Cyrus Saatsaz is a Society of Professional Journalists award winner in Online News Reporting; the author of the book Dogwild & Board: Stories, Interviews and Musings from a Surf Journalist; founded and hosts a podcast channel and YouTube show for Bleav Network called "Rick Barry's House" with NBA Hall of Famer Rick Barry;hosts a YouTube show and podcast for the Locked On Podcast Network called "Locked On Warriors;" is a lecturer for the School of Journalism and Mass Communications at San Jose State University; is an adjunct journalism professor at Moorpark College; and is the lead journalism professor here at Cuesta College. Saatsaz was formerly a senior editor for USA Today; a reporter for KCBS All-News Radio in San Francisco; a multimedia journalist for The Huffington Post, Sports Illustrated, Yahoo Sports, Men's Journal and the San Francisco Chronicle; the social media manager for nonprofit news organization inewsource in San Diego; a surf journalist and broadcaster for ESPN radio; and is the former owner of San Francisco Surf Company, an eco-friendly surf shop/bookstore/art gallery that was located on Union St. in San Francisco. Saatsaz was a sports broadcaster, executive producer and Creative Director at KNBR radio for nearly a decade, and the webcast commentator for the Maverick's Surf Contest. Saatsaz was formerly a journalism professor and student media advisor at Laramie County Community College in Wyoming; an assistant professor at the University of Houston; and a graduate teaching associate and research assistant at San Diego State University, and loves teaching students the great power and responsibility that comes with mass media. When he isn't researching the latest trends in media consumption and information dissemination, or covering the Defending World Champion Golden State Warriors for award-winning publications, you can find the native Californian, and former staff reporter for The Cuestonian, on road trips scouring the California coast for pristine waves while mourning the loss of his beloved dog, Indy.
