Both the Cuesta men’s and women’s basketball teams narrowly defeated the Moorpark Raiders in the final seconds last Saturday night. The men won 64-61, and the women 53-52. The Cougars struggled throughout both games with many turnovers and miscues, but they stood strong while the closing seconds dragged on for minutes.

The men started poorly; however, they were able to finish the game with confidence in the second half and hang on for the win.

Unlike the men, the women came out of the gate fast, but struggled later on. Frustration was mounting as Cuesta’s lead shrank and the final horn grew closer. Coach Barba chucked his water bottle, visibly displeased with his team’s performance. The Lady Cougars were able to hang on to the lead, successfully defending home court.

Cuesta basketball will host Ventura College next Saturday night with the men playing at 5pm, and the women at 7pm.
