Vocalists and local talent, do not miss auditions for the San Luis Obispo Master Chorale (SLOMC) this Fall 2017.

Join Dr. Thomas Davies and Suzan Azaret Davies this September in the 100-voice music ensemble comprised of San Luis Obispo County local musicians.

“The Chorale is almost all Classical music, and includes performances with a live orchestra and occasionally dancers.” said Marcy Irving, music appreciation instructor at Cuesta College and 13 year member of SLOMC.

“[SLOMC] is lots of fun,” Irving said, adding that she met half of her friends in the the group.

Irving offered praise for the Davies’.

“They are both incredible musicians –– they were both on the faculty at Cal Poly for many years.” she went on to say that “they are both really nice, Suzan plays the piano for SLOMC and Tom is the conductor.”

SLOMC is considered a community program. Audition is required for membership.

Auditions will be held on Sept. 11, 2017 at 7 p.m. in room 5401. Sign ups are online.

Interested vocalists are to come with music ready. Music can be anything from classical pieces to folk songs or hymns. Students are asked to keep length of music from three to four minutes.

To verify voice category, a short warm up will be done, followed by a short rhythmic passage-to-clap to check basic musicianship skills.
