Tripped Up is a four piece reggae band from San Luis Obispo, Calif. consisting of lead singer Drew Gonzales, lead guitarist Jon Millsap, bass player Matty Miller and drummer Brian Kusko.

Tripped Up usually puts on a high-intensity performance. They have an astonishing sound with the contrast of their two singers, Gonzales and Kusko. Within the first few seconds of seeing them live, with the vocal harmonies, the groove between the bass and rhythm, all the different layers, it’s easy to get lost in the music.

On Oct. 24, Tripped UP released their new single, Back Together, written by Gonzales and music by Miller.

“I wrote the lyrics when I felt things were crashing down around me, so the meaning of ‘The storms test us to put it back together’ is that life always throws things at you but there’s always a way to resolve or find peace,” Gonzales said.

That song sets the band apart from other reggae bands, with their soft, soulful and meaningful lyrics. Tripped Up’s sound has been described as a mixture of The Expendables and Stick Figure. Back in 2018, they went on a three day mini tour throughout California opening for The Expendables.  The tour started in Morro Bay, continued in Bakersfield and ended in Ventura. Their fans recognize them as a one-of-a-kind band with an energetic and unique sound.

Tripped UP has opened for bands including Sensamotion, Raging Fyah, The Expendables and Through The Roots. They will be opening up for Marlon Asher at The Siren in Morro Bay on Nov. 14 to help promote the release of their new single.

“Back Together,” is available on nearly every digital platform including Spotify and Itunes Apple Music.
